BPSC TRE 4 Eligibility 2026

Eligibility differs according to the teacher level and subject for which a candidate applies.

Candidates should satisfy both academic qualification and teacher-training/TET or STET requirements, where applicable.

The broad structure is as follows:

Level Broad Eligibility Route
Classes 1–5 Senior Secondary + prescribed elementary teacher-training qualification + applicable TET
Classes 6–8 Graduation + prescribed D.El.Ed/B.Ed or equivalent + applicable TET
Classes 9–10 Relevant Graduation/Postgraduation + B.Ed/equivalent + applicable STET
Classes 11–12 Relevant Postgraduation + B.Ed/equivalent + applicable STET

Eligibility Note: The precise requirements depend on the subject and qualification route recognised in the recruitment rules. Candidates should check eligibility for the exact class group and teaching subject rather than assuming one qualification applies to all four levels.

BPSC TRE 4 Primary Teacher Eligibility

Primary Teacher candidates generally need an eligible Senior Secondary qualification together with an approved elementary teacher-training route such as:

  • D.El.Ed
  • B.El.Ed
  • Another qualification recognised under the applicable teacher-education rules

Candidates must also satisfy the relevant teacher eligibility test requirement, such as the applicable CTET or Bihar TET Paper I condition.

The notification contains multiple permissible qualification routes, so candidates should match their exact academic and teacher-training qualification against the detailed conditions.

BPSC TRE 4 Middle School Teacher Eligibility

For Classes 6–8, eligibility generally combines a graduate-level qualification with an approved teacher-training qualification.

Recognised routes can include:

  • Graduation with D.El.Ed
  • Graduation/Postgraduation with the required B.Ed qualification

Candidates must also satisfy the applicable CTET/Bihar TET Paper II requirement.

Subject-specific eligibility also matters for Middle School appointments.

BPSC TRE 4 Secondary Teacher Eligibility

For Classes 9–10, candidates generally need:

  • A relevant Graduation or Postgraduation qualification
  • B.Ed or the prescribed equivalent teacher-training qualification
  • The applicable Bihar STET Paper I qualification

Eligibility must correspond to the subject for which the candidate seeks appointment.

BPSC TRE 4 Higher Secondary Teacher Eligibility

Higher Secondary recruitment generally requires stronger subject specialisation.

Candidates typically need:

  • A Postgraduate qualification in the relevant subject
  • B.Ed or another recognised teacher-training qualification
  • The applicable Bihar STET Paper II qualification

Certain subjects or professional qualifications may have separate rules.

BPSC TRE 4 Age Limit

The minimum age varies by teaching level.

Teaching Level General Minimum Age
Classes 1–8 18 years
Classes 9–12 21 years

The maximum age varies according to category.

The recruitment framework provides different upper-age limits for:

  • General male candidates
  • General female candidates
  • Backward Class
  • Extremely Backward Class
  • Scheduled Caste
  • Scheduled Tribe
  • Other eligible categories

Candidates should check the exact age-reference date and relaxation conditions applicable to their category in the detailed advertisement.

Under the reported TRE 4 rules, candidates who do not wish to answer a question are expected to mark the designated fifth option rather than leave the response blank.

This is an important change for candidates familiar with earlier TRE papers.
