No. As per the 2026 NTA information bulletin, the 75% criteria remains in place for admissions. To get a seat in NITs, IIITs, or GFTIs, General/OBC/EWS candidates must have at least 75% aggregate marks in Class 12 (65% for SC/ST). The Exception: If you don't have 75%, you can still be eligible if you are in the Top 20 Percentile of your respective Board.
No. You can only appear for JEE Main for three consecutive years starting from the year you first passed your Class 12 exams. For the 2026 cycle, only those who passed in 2024, 2025, or are appearing in 2026 are eligible.
No. This is a major change for 2026. Previously, students had 10 questions and could choose any 5. Now, NTA has reverted to the original pattern where Section B contains only 5 questions, and all 5 are mandatory. Negative marking (-1) also applies to these numerical questions.
No. NTA does not specify an upper or lower age limit for candidates. As long as you satisfy the Year of Passing criteria (2024, 2025, or 2026), you can register for the exam regardless of your age.
You can take two attempts in a single year: Session 1 (January) and Session 2 (April). You can choose to appear for one or both. If you appear for both, your best NTA score out of the two will be used for your final All India Rank (AIR).
This is the code of the state from where you appeared for/passed your Class 12 exam. It is not determined by your permanent address or your birthplace. For example, if you live in Delhi but passed Class 12 from a school in Rajasthan, your State Code of Eligibility will be Rajasthan.
