UIIC AO Eligibility 2026: Age Limit & Qualification

Latest details for this resource.

The UIIC AO Eligibility Criteria 2026 apply to candidates seeking recruitment as Administrative Officer (Scale I) in United India Insurance Company Limited under Recruitment Reference No. HO:HRM:REC:AO:1:2026.

UIIC has announced separate recruitment streams for Generalists and Hindi Officers, but both follow the same basic age cut-off of 30 June 2026.

Candidates must ordinarily be between 21 and 30 years old as on 30 June 2026.

Generalist candidates need a recognised Graduate or Postgraduate degree with at least 60% marks, reduced to 55% for SC, ST and PwBD candidates.

Hindi Officer candidates need one of the prescribed Master's-degree combinations involving Hindi and English, again with the same 60%/55% marks requirement.

Computer Knowledge: Working knowledge of computers is compulsory for candidates in both streams.

UIIC AO Age Limit 2026

The standard UIIC AO age requirement is:

Minimum Age: 21 years

Maximum Age: 30 years

Age Cut-off: 30 June 2026

UIIC specifies that candidates must have been born:

  • Not earlier than 30 June 1996
  • Not later than 30 June 2005

Both dates are included.

Important: Candidates should not calculate their age using the application deadline, Tier I exam date or Tier II exam date. The relevant date is 30 June 2026.

UIIC AO Age Relaxation 2026

UIIC provides upper-age relaxation to specified categories.

Category Age Relaxation
SC / ST 5 years
OBC – Non-Creamy Layer 3 years
PwBD 10 years
Eligible Ex-Servicemen including specified ECOs/SSCOs 5 years
Defence personnel disabled in specified operations 3 years
Widows / Divorced Women / Legally Separated Women not remarried 9 years
Confirmed Employees of Public Sector General Insurance Companies 8 years

Cumulative Relaxation: UIIC allows eligible candidates to receive age relaxation on a cumulative basis when they qualify under more than one category.

However, the maximum age after applying cumulative relaxation cannot exceed 45 years.

This cumulative-relaxation provision is an important difference from recruitment processes where candidates are allowed to claim only a single relaxation.

UIIC AO Age Limit for OBC Candidates

Eligible OBC candidates belonging to the Non-Creamy Layer receive three years of upper-age relaxation.

The standard maximum age of 30 can therefore ordinarily extend to 33 years, subject to the candidate satisfying UIIC's category requirements.

Candidates claiming OBC benefits must belong to the eligible Non-Creamy Layer category. OBC candidates who do not qualify for reservation benefits under the applicable rules should not assume that the three-year relaxation automatically applies.

UIIC AO Age Limit for SC/ST Candidates

SC and ST candidates receive five years of upper-age relaxation.

Accordingly, the standard maximum age of 30 can ordinarily extend to 35 years for eligible SC/ST candidates.

Minimum Age: The minimum age requirement remains 21 years. Age relaxation applies to the upper-age limit, not the minimum eligibility age.

UIIC AO PwBD Age Relaxation

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities receive 10 years of age relaxation under the current recruitment.

Because UIIC permits cumulative relaxation where applicable, an eligible candidate may receive additional category relaxation as well, subject to the overall maximum age of 45 years.

For reservation purposes, UIIC states that a benchmark disability generally means not less than 40% of a specified disability, supported by certification from the appropriate competent authority.

UIIC AO Age Relaxation for Ex-Servicemen

Eligible ex-servicemen, including qualifying Commissioned Officers and ECOs/SSCOs who have rendered at least five years of military service as on 30 June 2026, receive five years of age relaxation, subject to the detailed release and service conditions in the notification.

Defence-service personnel disabled during specified operations and released as a consequence receive three years of relaxation.

For ex-servicemen and disabled ex-servicemen, the relevant discharge date must satisfy the notification conditions applicable as on the eligibility cut-off.

Age Relaxation for Widows and Divorced Women

UIIC provides nine years of upper-age relaxation to:

  • Widows
  • Divorced women
  • Women legally separated from their husbands who have not remarried

Where the candidate also qualifies under another relaxation category, cumulative relaxation can apply, but the maximum permissible age remains capped at 45 years.

Age Relaxation for Public-Sector General Insurance Employees

Existing confirmed employees of Public Sector General Insurance Companies receive eight years of upper-age relaxation.

This provision also includes eligible confirmed employees of:

  • General Insurance Corporation of India
  • Agriculture Insurance Company of India Limited

This is a sector-specific concession that candidates may not encounter in ordinary banking recruitment.

UIIC AO Generalist Educational Qualification 2026

The minimum educational qualification for the Administrative Officer – Generalist stream is:

Graduate Degree or Postgraduate Degree in any discipline from a recognised university

Minimum Marks: 60%

SC/ST/PwBD Minimum Marks: 55%

UIIC explicitly indicates that eligible disciplines include, but are not limited to:

  • Engineering
  • Arts
  • Science
  • Commerce
  • Agriculture
  • Data Science
  • Other recognised disciplines

The Generalist recruitment is therefore not restricted to commerce, finance or insurance graduates.

Is Graduation Enough for UIIC AO Generalist?

Yes, provided the candidate meets the percentage requirement.

A candidate does not need both graduation and postgraduation.

The notification permits:

Graduate Degree OR Postgraduate Degree in any recognised discipline.

The candidate must secure the required percentage in either of the degree examinations used to establish eligibility.

For most candidates, this means a recognised Bachelor's degree with the required marks is sufficient.

What Percentage Is Required for UIIC AO?

Candidate Category Minimum Marks
General / OBC / EWS and other standard-category applicants 60%
SC / ST / PwBD applicants 55%

The same 60%/55% framework applies to the prescribed Hindi Officer Master's-degree qualification.

No Rounding Up: UIIC does not round up a percentage below the requirement.

The notification specifically states that 59.99% is treated as less than 60%. Therefore, 59.99% ≠ 60%.

How Is CGPA Converted for UIIC AO?

Where a university awards only:

  • CGPA
  • OGPA
  • SGPA

the candidate must produce a certificate from the appropriate university authority explaining the university's official conversion method from grades to percentage.

The percentage calculated according to those official norms will be used to determine eligibility.

Do not use an unofficial formula: Candidates should not use their own unofficial CGPA-to-percentage conversion method.

UIIC AO Qualification Cut-Off Date

Qualification Cut-off: 30 June 2026

Candidates must have completed the required educational qualification on or before 30 June 2026.

This date is strict.

UIIC states that candidates who had already appeared in the final examination by 30 June but whose results were declared after 30 June 2026 are not eligible.

Can Final-Year Students Apply for UIIC AO 2026?

Not unless they had already completed the qualification and obtained the qualifying result by 30 June 2026.

Simply appearing in the final examination before the cut-off is not enough.

For example, a candidate who wrote the final semester examination in May 2026 but received the result on 5 July 2026 does not meet the current qualification condition.

UIIC explicitly requires completion of the qualification by 30 June 2026.

This differs significantly from SBI Clerk 2026, where certain final-year candidates received a later qualification-completion window.

UIIC Hindi Officer Qualification 2026

Hindi Officer has more specialised academic requirements than Generalist.

A candidate must satisfy one of five permitted Master's-degree combinations.

Option 1

A Master's Degree in Hindi from a recognised university, with English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at degree level.

Option 2

A Master's Degree in English, with Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at degree level.

Option 3

A Master's Degree in a subject other than Hindi or English, with Hindi medium, and English as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at degree level.

Option 4

A Master's Degree in a subject other than Hindi or English, with English medium, and Hindi as a compulsory/elective subject or as the medium of examination at degree level.

Option 5

A Master's Degree in a subject other than Hindi or English with Hindi and English as compulsory/elective subjects, or with one of the two as the medium of examination and the other as a compulsory/elective subject at degree level.

Every accepted Hindi Officer qualification route requires at least 60% marks.

The requirement is reduced to 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

Candidates applying for Hindi Officer should check their Bachelor's and Master's records carefully because eligibility depends not only on the Master's subject but also on how Hindi and English were studied or used as the examination medium at degree level.

Is Computer Knowledge Mandatory for UIIC AO?

Yes. Working knowledge of Computer is a must.

This requirement applies to the recruitment generally rather than only to candidates taking Computer Knowledge questions in Tier II.

The notification does not state that every candidate must hold a separate computer diploma.

The requirement is working knowledge of computers.

Recognition of Degree and University

The required qualification must be obtained from a recognised university or institute in India.

UIIC specifies that the institution should be approved by:

  • UGC / AICTE, as applicable
  • Recognised by the Central Government

The qualification should also follow the prescribed 10+2+3 educational pattern or an equivalent system.

Candidates holding unusual or alternative qualifications should therefore confirm recognition before assuming eligibility.

UIIC AO Nationality Criteria

A candidate must fall under one of the prescribed nationality categories.

Eligible candidates can include:

  • Citizen of India
  • Subject of Nepal
  • Subject of Bhutan
  • Tibetan refugee who came to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India
  • Person of Indian origin who migrated from specified countries with the intention of permanently settling in India

The specified migrant-origin countries include Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam.

Candidates belonging to the Nepal, Bhutan, Tibetan-refugee or specified migrant-origin categories require a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

UIIC AO EWS Eligibility

Candidates claiming EWS reservation must satisfy the Government of India criteria applicable to the recruitment.

Gross Annual Family-Income Threshold: Below ₹8 lakh

Relevant Income Period: Financial Year 2025–26

Income and Asset Certificate: Issued after 31 March 2026

The applicable EWS criteria also include specified property and asset conditions.

UIIC also makes clear that EWS vacancies are tentative and subject to applicable Government directives and legal outcomes.

Can Candidates Change Category After Applying?

No. UIIC states that no change in category or discipline is permitted after registration of the online application.

Candidates should therefore carefully verify whether they are applying as:

  • Generalist or Hindi Officer
  • UR / OBC / SC / ST / EWS / PwBD classification

These details should be checked carefully before final submission.

Can You Apply for Both Generalist and Hindi Officer?

No. Candidates can apply and appear for either Generalist or Hindi Officer, but not both.

UIIC states that multiple registrations or appearances can lead to cancellation of candidature.

The correct discipline must therefore be selected at application stage.

Are Existing UIIC Administrative Officers Eligible?

No. Candidates currently serving as Administrative Officers (Scale I) in United India Insurance Company Limited are not eligible to apply under the present recruitment.

This exclusion applies specifically to candidates already holding the AO Scale I post in UIIC.

Common UIIC AO Eligibility Mistakes

1. Using the Application Closing Date for Age Calculation

One of the biggest mistakes is assuming that eligibility is calculated using the application closing date. It is not.

Age cut-off = 30 June 2026

Qualification cut-off = 30 June 2026

2. Rounding 59.99% to 60%

Another common error is assuming that 59.99% can be rounded to 60%. UIIC explicitly says it cannot.

3. Assuming Appearing in the Final Exam Is Enough

Candidates sometimes assume that appearing in the final examination before 30 June is sufficient. It is not—the qualifying result must also have been declared by the prescribed cut-off.

4. Checking Only the Master's Degree Title for Hindi Officer

Hindi Officer applicants should verify the exact Hindi-English subject or medium combination in their academic record rather than relying only on the title of their master's degree.
