UIIC AO Vacancy 2026: 225 Category-Wise Vacancies

Latest details for this resource.

The UIIC AO Vacancy 2026 notification has announced 225 Administrative Officer (Scale I) vacancies in United India Insurance Company Limited.

The vacancies are divided between two disciplines:

Administrative Officer – Generalists: 200 vacancies

Administrative Officer – Hindi Officers: 25 vacancies

The vacancy numbers are described by UIIC as provisional, which means the Company can vary or interchange category-wise numbers during the recruitment process.

Unlike SBI Clerk and several State-based recruitments, UIIC has not released a State-wise vacancy table for Administrative Officers. The notification instead states that vacancies are substantially concentrated in the Western and Southern zones of India, although selected candidates can ultimately be posted or transferred anywhere in the country.

UIIC AO Vacancy 2026 Overview

Particular Vacancies / Details
Administrative Officer – Generalist 200
Administrative Officer – Hindi Officer 25
Total UIIC AO Vacancies 225
Generalist Share 88.9%
Hindi Officer Share 11.1%
PwBD Reservation Horizontal
Vacancy Status Provisional / Indicative
Main Vacancy Concentration Western & Southern Zones
Posting Liability Anywhere in India

UIIC's official notification confirms the 200 Generalist + 25 Hindi Officer = 225 total vacancy structure.

UIIC AO Generalist Vacancy 2026

The Generalist discipline contains the majority of available positions.

There are 200 UIIC AO Generalist vacancies.

The category-wise distribution is:

Category Generalist Vacancies
UR 68
OBC 62
SC 30
ST 18
EWS 22
Total 200

The two largest categories are UR with 68 vacancies and OBC with 62 vacancies. Together they account for 130 of the 200 Generalist positions.

The Generalist stream is therefore the principal recruitment route in the current UIIC AO cycle.

Candidates selected as Generalist Administrative Officers can be assigned to different areas of general insurance operations depending on UIIC's organisational requirements.

UIIC Hindi Officer Vacancy 2026

UIIC has separately announced 25 Administrative Officer – Hindi Officer vacancies.

The category distribution is:

Category Hindi Officer Vacancies
UR 11
OBC 7
SC 4
ST 1
EWS 2
Total 25

Important: Hindi Officer is a specialised discipline with separate educational requirements and a different Tier II examination structure.

Candidates should therefore not treat the Hindi Officer post as merely another category within Generalist recruitment. It is a separate discipline.

UIIC AO Total Category-Wise Vacancy 2026

Combining Generalist and Hindi Officer vacancies gives the following overall category distribution:

Category Generalist Hindi Officer Total
UR 68 11 79
OBC 62 7 69
SC 30 4 34
ST 18 1 19
EWS 22 2 24
Total 200 25 225

Therefore, across both disciplines:

  • UR — 79
  • OBC — 69
  • SC — 34
  • EWS — 24
  • ST — 19

Use the Discipline-Specific Vacancy Table: A Generalist applicant competes for the Generalist vacancies, while a Hindi Officer applicant competes in the Hindi Officer discipline.

UIIC AO PwBD Vacancy 2026

UIIC provides horizontal reservation for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016.

PwBD Reservation for Generalists

PwBD Category Generalist Reservation
VI – Visually Impaired 2
HI – Hearing Impaired 2
OC – Orthopedically Challenged 4
MD/ID – Multiple / Intellectual Disabilities 3
Total Indicated 11

PwBD Reservation for Hindi Officers

PwBD Category Hindi Officer Reservation
VI – Visually Impaired 1
HI – Hearing Impaired 0
OC – Orthopedically Challenged 0
MD/ID 0

Horizontal Reservation: These PwBD reservations are included within the overall 200 Generalist and 25 Hindi Officer vacancies. They are not additional posts on top of the 225 total.

This is an important distinction because adding the PwBD figures separately would incorrectly inflate the UIIC AO vacancy total.

What Does Horizontal Reservation Mean?

Vertical reservation categories include:

  • SC
  • ST
  • OBC
  • EWS
  • UR

PwBD reservation operates horizontally across these categories.

For example, a candidate may simultaneously belong to OBC + PwBD or SC + PwBD.

The PwBD vacancy is therefore adjusted within the relevant vertical category rather than treated as an entirely separate recruitment category.

For UIIC AO 2026, the official notification specifies 4% horizontal reservation for PwBD candidates according to the applicable law.

Are UIIC AO EWS Vacancies Final?

UIIC describes the EWS vacancies as tentative.

The notification states that they remain subject to further Government of India directions and the outcome of relevant litigation or court cases.

Appointment against an EWS vacancy is also subject to verification of the candidate's valid Income and Asset Certificate through the appropriate channels.

22 EWS Generalist vacancies

2 EWS Hindi Officer vacancies

Combined EWS Vacancies: 24

Are the 225 UIIC AO Vacancies Final?

No. UIIC explicitly describes the category-wise vacancies as provisional/indicative.

The Company reserves the right to vary the vacancy numbers and may interchange category-wise figures during the recruitment process.

Candidates should therefore follow the UIIC recruitment page for any corrigendum or vacancy revision.

For PraveshExam: The vacancy table should display a visible Last Updated / Last Verified date whenever UIIC modifies the recruitment.

Does UIIC AO Have State-Wise Vacancies?

No State-wise vacancy distribution has been published in the current UIIC AO notification.

This is an important distinction from examinations such as SBI Clerk, IBPS Clerk or RRB Office Assistant, where vacancies are often closely associated with a State, State/UT or specific participating organisation.

UIIC has instead announced an all-India Administrative Officer recruitment.

The official notification says that the vacancies are substantially located in the Western and Southern zones. Selected candidates are consequently expected to be posted largely in offices in these regions initially.

Important: Pages claiming an exact Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu or other State-wise UIIC AO 2026 vacancy count should be treated cautiously unless UIIC later publishes such a distribution.

Where Will UIIC AO Candidates Be Posted?

UIIC states that the current vacancies are substantially in the:

  • Western Zone
  • Southern Zone

However, selected candidates remain liable to be posted or transferred to any location in India according to the Company's requirements.

The recruitment should therefore be considered an all-India posting opportunity rather than a State-specific appointment.

UIIC AO Five-Year Initial Posting Rule

The official 2026 notification contains an important posting condition.

Candidates selected under the recruitment are likely to be posted mainly in the Western and Southern zones, and the initial period of posting will be for a minimum of five years.

UIIC also states that requests for transfer to a place of the candidate's choice will not be entertained during that initial period.

This rule deserves attention before application.

Candidates should not choose UIIC AO under the assumption that they can immediately request transfer to their home State after joining.

Can You Apply for Both Generalist and Hindi Officer?

No. UIIC specifically states that a candidate can apply and appear for either Generalist or Hindi Officer, but not both.

If a candidate makes multiple registrations or appearances in the examination or interview process, UIIC can cancel the candidature.

Only one application should therefore be submitted.

This makes it important to choose the correct discipline before completing registration.

Which UIIC AO Stream Has More Vacancies?

The Generalist stream clearly has more opportunities.

Discipline Vacancies Share of Total
Generalist 200 88.9%
Hindi Officer 25 11.1%
Total 225 100%

Almost nine out of every ten vacancies belong to the Generalist discipline.

This should not be interpreted as advice for Hindi Officer candidates to apply as Generalists automatically. The two disciplines have different educational qualifications, exam structures and job responsibilities.

Candidates should apply only for the stream for which they satisfy the prescribed requirements and intend to pursue the corresponding role.

UIIC AO Application Dates 2026

The vacancy application schedule is:

Event Date
Online Registration Begins 8 September 2026
Last Date to Apply 28 September 2026
Last Date for Fee Payment 28 September 2026
Tier I Exam 22 October 2026 – Tentative
Tier II Exam 30 November 2026 – Tentative

UIIC states that the examination dates are tentative and may be modified if required. Candidates should regularly check the Company's recruitment section for updates.

UIIC AO Application Fee

Applicant Category Fee / Service Charge
All applicants except exempt categories ₹1,000 + GST
SC / ST / PwBD ₹250 + GST service charges only
Permanent UIIC Employees ₹250 + GST service charges only

For SC/ST/PwBD candidates and permanent UIIC employees, the application fee itself is nil; the ₹250 amount represents service charges.

Can Existing UIIC Administrative Officers Apply?

No. Candidates who are currently serving as Administrative Officers (Scale I) in United India Insurance Company Limited are not eligible to apply or appear in the current recruitment.

UIIC states that candidature can be rejected if it is subsequently discovered that an applicant was already holding such an appointment.

UIIC AO Vacancy vs Previous Recruitment Cycles

The structure of UIIC Administrative Officer recruitment can change considerably from one cycle to another.

For example, UIIC's 2024 recruitment included Generalist as well as Specialist disciplines, while the current 2026 recruitment is structured around:

  • 200 Generalists
  • 25 Hindi Officers

Use the Current Notification: Candidates should use the 2026 notification when checking vacancy or eligibility information rather than assuming that streams available in an older recruitment continue in the present cycle.

The current recruitment has no separate Legal, Finance, Engineering or other specialist AO vacancy groups listed alongside the 200 Generalist and 25 Hindi Officer vacancies.

Does Higher Vacancy Mean an Easier UIIC AO Cut-Off?

Not necessarily.

Vacancy numbers affect competition, but they are only one part of the eventual cutoff.

The qualifying level can also depend on:

  • Number of applicants
  • Difficulty of Tier I and Tier II
  • Candidate score distribution
  • Category
  • Number of candidates shortlisted at each stage

UIIC also requires candidates to qualify the prescribed section-wise and overall requirements at the examination stages.

Vacancy numbers should be used to understand the scale of recruitment rather than to assume that 200 Generalist vacancies guarantee a particular cutoff.
